ONLINE AUCTION PREVIEW STARTS ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1!
ROCK THE SUMMIT CHARITY 2020
The Erin Levitas Foundation is honored to be the Rock the Summit Race Weekend’s chosen charity. This marks our third year of our partnership. The funds raised each year have supported the growth of a first-of-its-kind curriculum educating youth to prevent sexual assault and bringing that education into the classroom. Your commitment has helped over 60 children get this important education. For example, it is teaching middle school students attitudes and behaviors that keep them and others safe. This education at the middle school level is important to prevent more harmful acts that are often committed as they get older.
MORE THAN A PARTNERSHIP
PCA Potomac Region member, Michael Levitas helped start the Erin Levitas Foundation after his daughter Erin, at 22 lost her life in 2016 to cancer. She dreamed of going to law school to prevent sexual assault and support survivors after she had a personal experience with rape. Erin wasn’t able to live out her dream. This foundation is her legacy. The PCA community has not only been a partner, it has been an important part of the Levitas family. Each member’s support and devotion has helped make Erin’s dream a reality. The foundation has grown each year and continues to develop a robust program to prevent sexual assault.
WAYS TO GET INVOLVED:
YOUR EFFORTS MATTER NOW
Stay at home regulations because of COVID-19 are hitting people in unsafe home-life situations especially hard. School is a safe outlet for many children. As we gear up for the fall, we anticipate children will come back having experienced an increase of sexual harassment and assault and increased risky behaviors like sexting. Education and support will continue to be important.
Youth will need the opportunity to process and understand more about their behaviors, attitudes, and actions.
When you invest in preventative education, you are investing in a child who does not become a rapist and a student who does not become a victim or survivor.”
Imagine that. Understanding the world will continue to need virtual support the Erin Levitas Foundation has adapted and produced a number of webinars for caretakers/parents, survivors, individuals, families and communities. This work will continue. Your participation will ensure this education will remain available and the program will grow.
